Do ZTT Records own the Art of Noise’s China Records recordings, and if so when are they going to be released?
Unfortunately ZTT don’t own those recordings as they are owned by Warner Brothers, who have no foreseeable plans to reissue them.

Why can’t I find Art of Noise’s ZTT albums in my local record store?
Pinnacle, the label that used to distribute ZTT’s catalogue went bust in late 2008. ZTT have since partnered up with Salvo and have started reissuing those albums as new expanded versions.

Why don't you list upcoming Art of Noise gigs on the site as they are playing at local venues?
The simple reason is, they are not playing at any venues. 'The Art of Noise' appearing at these venues are mainly DJ's using the Art of Noise's name.

Why have you missed out the two Art of Noise records Into Trouble With The Noise Of Art and Close (To The Ground) from the Discography section?
Those records are not by, and having nothing to do with the Art of Noise. They are recordings by a group called Mainframe using the pseudonym The Noise of Art on their YYY records (a parody of ZTT).

A.
Why have you not included the album AON in the Discography section?
The AON album in question is by Christopher Marc Potter & Simon Posford using the name AON, which is often confused with the AON acronym for Art of Noise. There is a connection that can be misleading, the Art of Noise’s The Ambient Collection album was remixed by Youth, who also features on AON’s AON album.

Is Art of Trance another JJ Jeczalik project?

Where can I find a copy of the Art of Noise album Essentials?

Why did Moments In Love (Rob Searles Anthem Mix) have Art of Noise listed on the promo and Vision credited on the released version?
Rob Searle released the track as Moments In Time in 1999 under his own name. In 2000 he remixed the following Frankie Goes To Hollywood tracks, The Power Of Love and Two Tribes, both were put out as singles by ZTT and became huge hits. It was probably hoped that his mix of Moments In Love would become another hit for Art of Noise and ZTT. Somwhere between the promo issues and the unreleased CD and 12" singles a decission was made to change the billing from Art of Noise to Vision to incorporate the amount of additional material added by Searle although details of the change of name are rather vague. One thing is for sure is that ZTT weren't happy with it and decided not to put it out as an official release.

Did Art & Act ever exist?
Yes, after Anne Dudley, JJ Jeczalik and Gary Langan left ZTT, Trevor Horn, Paul Morley decided to try and create another Art of Noise with Steve Lipson. Art & Act recorded some material which is available on the album Influence: Hits, Singles, Moments, Treasures...
13. Q.
A.
Who actually formed the Art of Noise?
It was Gary Langan and JJ Jeczalik who founded the group, before Trevor Horn, Anne Dudley and Paul Morley got involved, although it is often mistakenly that it was Trevor Horn & Paul Morley.

What is the difference between Beat Box (Diversion Six) and (Diversion Ten)?
Nothing it is the same exact recording. Beat Box (Diversion Six) was issued as a 7” single (ZTIS 108) in 1984. The mix was re-titled (Diversion Ten) when it became the double A-side to Moments In Love (ZTPS 02) in 1985.

Was Robinson Crusoe released as a single?
No, but it did get a fair amount of airplay on the BBC Radio 1 show Steve Wright In The Afternoon in 1990. Steve Wright said that they (China Records) were thinking of putting it out as a single, this may explain the 12” mix of Robinson Crusoe (The White Noise Edit) that appeared on the 1992 German compilation The Best Of The Art Of Noise: Art Works 12” (CHI 9013-2) and the standard version being featured on the 1992 worldwide ‘pink’ issue of The Best Of The Art Of Noise.
