In a nutshell: The 80s pioneers of "throwing interesting sounds at each other and standing well back" make another stab at a market they once monopolised, but which has since been pillaged by the Prodigys and Chemical Brothers of this world.
What's it like? Entering to a mad flurry of electro/drum 'n' bass/mashed-up twiddlings, the schizophrenic grande dame of noiseploitation just lifted her skirt to the world. Inevitably, it's not quite the edifying sight it used to be.
How many good tracks? Three, out of seven. Best track: Motive, the beautifully brittle soundtrack to a non-existent 60s soft-porn movie.
Best line: Rakim (of Eric B and... fame) provides the one vocal track but Spleen harbours little worth repeating. For titles, though, And I Placed My Fingers On Her Eyes As Though I Were Touching The Silent Controls Of A TV Set takes some beating.
Verdict: Times change, and there are better pretenders to this particular throne these days. Stick with the back-catalogue.
