Art Of Noise
The Seduction Of Claude Debussy (ZTT)
The lush introductory track, underpinned by John Hurt's rumbling voiceover, sets the scene for fifty seven minutes of "music from quite another film that never existed" about the French composer. Yes kids, it's a concept album. Hurt the hypnotist intones, "When I snap my fingers, you will be in a different world" - which he does, and you are - guided through a dreamlike, artistic history lesson. It's all good, high-minded stuff full of grand intentions and, with Horn and Dudley at the helm, the production is predictably (almost too) immaculate. ...Debussy contains much to admire slightly less to excite; a' sound-rack, coming soon to a thirty something coffee table near you.
